SRLP continues fight against sexual assault in detention.

In coalition with other groups, on April 4, 2011, SRLP submitted comments to regulations that would implement the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).  We urge the Attorney General to make certain important changes to the proposed regulations to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, and gender nonconforming people in various forms of detention including prisons and jails. DROP-IN CLOSED THURSDAY AUGUST 9th, 2012

SRLP will be closed on Thursday August 9th and there will be NO DROP-INS. The city will be shutting off our water that day to make some repairs or adjustments, so we will be CLOSED! See you next week!

Stonewall Foundation Honors SRLP Attorney Pooja Gehi

The Stonewall Foundation is celebrating its 20th Anniversary by honoring 20 extraordinary women, including SRLP Attorney Pooja Gehi, for contributions to the LGBT community. The 7th Annual Stonewall Honors will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Highline Ballroom.

The Winning Team: The Welfare Justice Campaign Trains Human Resource Administration on Policy to Address Discrimination Against Trans & Gender Non Conforming People

On October 15th, following the historic and successful organizing campaign to make the Human Resources Administration pass a policy to stop discrimination against trans and gender non conforming people seeking HRA services, members from the Welfare Justice Campaign traveled to the HRA training headquarters in Queens, NY to train workers on the policy.

Queer Left At US Social Forum Pledge A Movement for ‘Safe Self-Determination’

In June 2010, SRLP attended the United States Social Forum in Detroit, Michigan. As part of the ROOTS Coalition, we built a new level of shared national strategy for queer and trans justice movements in the US. Two of SRLP’s community members active in the Transforming Justice Coalition joined us in facilitating a workshop to build strategy around Trans Communities and Detention. Read more »
